Navisun delivers 27MW of affordable, clean power to Maine customers

Hampden and Shepherds Acres projects round out a five-project portfolio delivering solar energy under the Maine Net Energy Billing program.

Navisun is proud to announce the completion of two solar projects that will bring clean energy and cost savings to local customers in Maine. The Hampden and Shepherds Acres projects will supply 10.8 megawatts (MW) of power to municipalities, commercial and industrial businesses, and residential households at discounted rates. Navisun completed construction and reached commercial operation at the two sites in late December 2024.

These projects — located in the Versant and Central Maine Power service territories, respectively — mark the completion of a larger 27MW portfolio in the state delivering power through the Maine Net Energy Billing (NEB) program. Navisun acquired, developed, and constructed all five projects in the portfolio and served as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor. With support from several subcontractors, these projects created more than 50 jobs in the area during peak construction.

“We are thrilled to complete our last two projects participating in the Maine NEB program and to work with both Versant and Central Maine Power to complete the projects prior to the end of the year,” said Jason Spreyer, CEO of Navisun. “The completion of the projects illustrates Navisun’s commitment to developing meaningful projects that benefit the communities and residents of the State of Maine.”

The Shepherds Acres solar project is one of five in Navisun’s 27MW Maine portfolio.

The completion of the Maine portfolio caps a year of strong growth for Navisun, with the company increasing its operating capacity by 18% in 2024. Navisun’s operating fleet now consists of 115MW across 39 different sites in six states.

As a new year begins, the company looks forward to more growth in the coming months: Navisun expects to reach commercial operation of an additional 25MW in the first half of 2025. All of these projects are set to benefit local communities and low- to moderate-income rate payers, continuing the company’s work to execute on high-quality projects that deliver clean, affordable power to Americans across the country.
